The Carpet Chemist is trained and certified in Flood, Mould & Sewage Remediation by the world’s leading training authority – the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC).

Additionally The Carpet Chemist has many tertiary qualifications in related scientific fields. These fields include Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cells Biology, Mycology (fungus) and Chemistry. For over 17 years he has worked on many flood claims and offered independent third party advice in claim disputes.

Controlled drying in accordance to ANSI/IICRC S-500 guidelines by a Certified Water Restoration Technician ensures prompt and thorough drying. This minimises damage, replacement costs and danger to occupiers health due to microbial growth.

Technology

We have the latest technology to ensure these strict drying standards are efficiently meet. Our inspection and drying equipment includes powerful (16” Hg) extractors, water claws, Low Grain Refridgerant (LGR) commercial dehumidifiers, air movers, infra-red camera/video, moisture meters, ozone generators, foggers, hygrometers and infrared meters for measuring inside walls, ceilings and floors.

Efficiency

In most instances flooded homes can be dried to the S-500 standard without the need for a builder or carpet lifting/relaying.

Act quickly

Prolonged moisture will become Category 3 (black water) over time. Also relative humidity over 60% will cause unaffected hygroscopic materials to absorb moisture and cause secondary damage. In both cases overall costs will increase so acting fast saves money.

Transparency

We document initial water migration and drying progress as required. These are done by taking notes, measurements, infrared images and videos. We encourage managers, owners and loss adjusters to make a visit at any point where we can take measurements to demonstrate progress.

Lastly, it is important to realise that you cant always tell if carpets and walls are wet. Sometimes these situations are worse because they remain wet for days and weeks without the occupier’s knowledge. The mould can be growing under the carpet or inside a wall cavity. A musty smell eventually indicates that something is not right. We can visit to take moisture readings if you have any concerns. The sooner you act, the faster the health risk will be reduced and cost of damages will be reduced.
